An ode to civil rights activists, including Staples himself, the song sounds less acoustic than most of Hozier’s work and signals a newer, more powerful style that he explores on this album. Months before the album’s release, Hozier released the lead single “Nina Cried Power” featuring Mavis Staples. Although each song deserves its own section, I am going to address the most outstanding ones.
